What is water glass casting?
Water glass castings are also known as sodium silicate castings. Its casting process is very similar to the melt casting (i. e., lost wax melt casting). It is a technique of using water glass as a binder for shell pouring.
Compared with sand casting, the process has a much better surface finish and size accuracy.
More complex shapes can also be made of.
It is particularly suitable for larger castings and is cheaper to produce. Raw materials are mainly steel and iron.Water glass casting technology is obtained from Russia. It is now one of the most common investment casting processes in China. About 75% of foundries focus their operations on water glass casting. The rest are silica sol casting plants.
